‘Be Together’ is an ethereal, dreamy landscape of a track from Manchester’s Solis. The opening of the track is centred on syllabically dense, repeating vocal cells that introduce a unique vocal style and an impressive compositional ability. Comparatively, the next section leaves that in the dust. We break out into a thick texture of beautifully layered harmonies and a melody that could not work more perfectly against the ringing, almost Pink Floyd-esque guitar chords. Solis explains that “It’s not autobiographical, but there are elements of the unnamed narrator that I definitely relate to. Loneliness and missing human connection is something that we all can understand after the coronavirus pandemic.” If this track is a representation of her upcoming debut album, Priestess, then it has quickly become one of my most anticipated releases of the year. -Dan Peeke
